American Jewelry and Loan now offers fast, easy digital loan payments. Customers may use a self-service kiosk at the Detroit store to pay loan interest, pay off their loan and pick up their items, or pay on items in layaway. These transactions may also be made online.

“People want convenience. People want to do their transactions quickly, so they can get on with their day.” said Seth Gold, co-owner of American Jewelry and Loan.

On March 22, pawnbrokers from across the nation gathered in Orange Beach, Alabama, to enjoy a weekend of learning and networking. Les Gold and Seth Gold were honored to give the keynote speech, “Telling The Story of Your Pawn Shop,” at the event.

LEs & Seth Gold attended the Dixie Pawn Educational Conference in Orange Beach, AL

They enjoyed an animated audience who asked great questions after their speech. Most of all, they enjoyed networking with and learning from other members of the pawnbroking industry.

Seth Gold gave the keynote speech at Dixie 2019 with his father, Les Gold.

They look forward to another weekend of learning from their fellow pawnbrokers at the Dixie Conference 2020!

Les Gold to Act As Celebrity Auctioneer in 2019 JA Business Hall of Fame Live Auction

On Thursday, March 7, 2019, Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan will hold its annual Business Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Live Auction Fundraiser.

Les Gold, president and founder of American Jewelry & Loan, is proud to participate as celebrity auctioneer for the live auction portion of the event.

The live auction event is a fundraiser for JA, who the Golds have partnered with to promote entrepreneurship and business skills in young people via The Gold Bank. The Gold Bank is a source for low-interest small business loans for students involved in the JA Company program, which teaches entrepreneurship to high school students. In order to receive a loan from The Gold Bank, students must present their business idea to a panel of business leaders, including the Golds.

This year’s induction ceremony and live auction will be held at beautiful Lovett Hall at The Henry Ford museum. The JA Business Hall of Fame honors business leaders in Southeastern Michigan who exemplify what JA hopes to teach and inspire in young people.

Les Gold will act as celebrity auctioneer at the JA 2019 Hall of Fame ceremony.

Financial Literacy for Alternative Lending Consumers: Pontiac

American Jewelry & Loan was proud to host a successful Financial Literacy Course at their Pontiac store. AJL founder and president Les Gold moderated a panel of financial experts that included representatives from Junior Achievement, Operation Hope, and Greenpath Financial WellnessAttendees were treated to an expert overview of many topics related to personal finance, including what information is considered when determining your credit score, ways to build and maintain that score, as well as various alternative lending options they might consider.

“It’s very important to be well informed on personal finance matters,” said Gold. “Thanks to our partners, everyone who attended our financial literacy course is aware of the different options available to them and can begin making smart decisions about managing their money.”

Day Two – Entrepreneurship Master Class

ENTREPRENEURSHIP OAKLAND–MASTER CLASS

On March 21, 2017, aspiring entrepreneurs and community leaders met for the second of three panel discussions in the Entrepreneurship Oakland Master Class, presented by American Jewelry & Loan and the Pontiac Chamber of Commerce. The panel discussed utilizing free resources available within local communities, conducting market research, social media best practices, marketing, how to find funding for your business or organization, and more.

This week’s expert panelists included: Matthew Farrell from Core Partners, Vladimir Gendelman from CompanyFolders.com, Rob Cote from Security Vitals, Lisa Crawford-Palmer from Studio 8 Fitness, and Devan Green from Pontiac Library.

Les Gold, third generation pawnbroker and owner of American Jewelry & Loan, joined the panel to offer his expertise. His son and business partner, Seth Gold, moderated the panel and contributed his own business wisdom.
