Hardcore Charity: Golds attend 2013 Wigs 4 Kids Gala

By | from Staff | No Comments

Wigs 4 Kids helps children who struggle to deal with social acceptance based on physical appearance. By providing custom-fitted, age-appropriate wigs, we help our kids feel better about their appearance and look more like their peers. For several years, the Gold family has been honored to support their efforts.

On September 20, 2013, Les, Seth, and Ashely Gold attended the annual Wigs 4 Kids Gala. This annual event is ‘all about the kids’ and is a highlight of the year for all who attend.  American Jewelry and Loan funded the cash booth which lucky kids were able to jump into and grab cash, gift certificates, and more. It was a hit!

Wigs 4 Kids accepts donations from caring individuals, companies and organizations. Wigs 4 Kids is funded solely on the basis of contributions. Any financial support received presents a greater opportunity to help kids in need of our assistance. Another unique giving opportunity is through hair donations. Everyone in Detroit is invited to participate, so this is truly a “Made in Detroit” effort, creating a musical theme for the Motor City’s renaissance

LYRICS:

“The D”

Allee Willis/ Andrae Alexander

Some folks live on the mountaintop.
Some at the end of a broom.
Some hang down by the riverside.
Some suck on a silver spoon.

Spirit’s somethin that lives inside.
Ain’t nothin money can buy.
Hope rise up from these city streets
that once were burning with pride.

Buildings may be crumblin down.
They can heal with a can of paint.
Shiny canvases to an artist’s eyes
with passion of a saint.

Pray on it.
Stay on it.
Plant a kiss
and remember
life’s a gift.
So play with it.
Stay with it.
Bit by bit
all the pieces
make The D
a perfect fit.

Nowhere else in the whole world
has gotten people to move.
Music, motors and Coney Dogs…
We always been in the groove.

Soul’s our version of pedigree
You learn it good when you’re down.
If you got any sense you keep holdin’ on
’cause one day it comes back around.

Right now is the time to be
optimistic baby, full of dreams.
From the ashes come the miracles
if you stay strong and believe.

Pray on it.
Stay on it.
Plant a kiss
and remember
life’s a gift.
So play with it.
Stay with it.
Bit by bit
all the pieces
make The D
a perfect fit.

DEtroit City!
DEtroit City!
DEtroit City!
DEtroit City!

Pray on it.
Stay on it.
Plant a kiss
and remember
life’s a gift.
So play with it.
Stay with it.
Bit by bit
all the pieces
make The D
a perfect fit.

Pray on it.
Stay on it.
Plant a kiss
and remember
life’s a gift.
So play with it.
Stay with it.
Bit by bit
all the pieces
make The D
